Screwdriver
OnRobot automates screwdriving and assembly work
With the Screwdriver, OnRobot is expanding its product portfolio with a tool that allows users to automate complex screwdriving and assembly processes quickly and easily.
The Screwdriver is a complete solution that can be converted for different tasks in just a few minutes, according to the manufacturer. With the intelligent function of precise torque control and integrated axis control, it is also easy to program and ensures more consistent screwdriving processes.
"Our Screwdriver offers manufacturing companies a welcome relief from repetitive, ergonomically unfavourable screwdriving processes," emphasizes Enrico Krog Iversen, CEO of OnRobot. "With this complete solution, users can now easily automate even complex assembly tasks. This makes the process more cost-efficient and achieves better results at the same time."
Features reduce programming effort
Thanks to integrated axis control and precise torque control, programming the new screwdriver is easier than with comparable modular screwdriving systems. Users first enter the screw length and the required torque via the teach pendant of the respective robot arm. The screwdriver then uses the two intelligent features to automatically calculate the speed and force it needs to screw accurately. If the screw length is incorrect, the Screwdriver automatically detects the error. This helps users to minimize production errors and increase their product quality.
The constant force with which the screwdriver screws in screws also ensures optimum results. By speeding up assembly processes, the screwdriver also increases productivity. In this way, users benefit from a quick return on investment, which also makes the purchase interesting for small and medium-sized companies.
The screwdriver can be installed using the plug-and-play principle and has a quick-change bit system. This allows it to be set up for different screw sizes from M1.6 to M6 and a length of up to five centimetres in just a few minutes. This also reduces the changeover time for new screwdriving jobs. This flexibility helps users to minimize downtime on their production lines and increase their productivity.
At the same time, the tool is designed for integration into collaborative applications that work safely with humans. Thanks to its special Z-axis function, it automatically retracts screws and only extends them again when the robot arm has reached its operating position. Screws up to a length of 3.5 centimetres disappear completely into its housing. This also reduces the robot's movements and the programming effort for the user.
The Screwdriver is compatible with OnRobot's One-System-Solution. This standardized mechanical and technological interface enables users to easily use OnRobot products with the robot arms of all common manufacturers. Since spring 2020, the One System Solution has also been supported by Hanwha Precision Machinery and ABB Robotics. The resulting compatibility significantly reduces the integration time for users and ensures fast commissioning of the OnRobot tools. as
