Demographic change and the exodus of young people in particular pose new challenges for companies with regional roots. They are finding it increasingly difficult to meet their demand for skilled workers and trainees. Müller Präzisionswerkzeuge, a supplier of special tools for the metalworking industry, is therefore continuing to take unusual paths in its search for qualified young employees. The medium-sized company from Sien enables its trainees to train as glider pilots on the side. The company covers all the costs associated with obtaining a pilot's license, including an annual membership fee for the Idar-Oberstein Aero Club.

Managing Director Mathias Schmidt is an enthusiastic amateur pilot himself: "We want to further increase the attractiveness of our training program with our unusual measures. At the same time, I am delighted to be able to pass on the fascination of flying to our young employees." And there is also a direct link to the tasks at Müller Präzisionswerkzeuge. "Flying has a lot to do with technical understanding and design skills. Our employees design and produce high-performance tools that are used in aviation technology and aircraft construction, among other things. In addition to automotive manufacturers and suppliers, we have many customers from the promising aerospace industry," continues Schmidt.

In addition, Müller Präzisionswerkzeuge pays trainees 1,080 euros per month in their first year of training, which is several hundred euros more than the standard pay scale. The company also offers under-18s a free apprentice shuttle for their daily commute to work. In addition, there are bonuses for good school performance, a travel allowance and reimbursement of incidental expenses as well as various further training opportunities within the company. The medium-sized company also promises to take on trainees if they perform well. as
