Siemens reorganizes global production

Siemens today launched the Additive Manufacturing Network: The new online collaboration platform provides users in the manufacturing industry worldwide with expertise, knowledge, digital tools and production capacities for industrial 3D printing.

The early adopter program is currently being launched for designers and engineers, manufacturing service providers, original equipment manufacturers of 3D printing machines, material manufacturers and software providers who want to join the new ecosystem. With the Additive Manufacturing Network, Siemens is accelerating the transfer of knowledge and helping to streamline, control and secure commercial processes for the procurement of high-quality prototypes and series parts. The aim is to reduce risks in the introduction of additive manufacturing and create new business opportunities.

"Additive manufacturing will realize its full disruptive potential when we enable direct access to high-quality services, globally available AM systems and fundamental knowledge for engineers, designers and machine operators," says Güngör Kara, Chief Digital Officer at EOS. "The Siemens Additive Manufacturing Network helps to establish these connections and make them accessible to the market. This enables innovative AM parts and high-performance AM production cells in a smart and fully digital factory. As a partner of the Additive Manufacturing Network, EOS and our consulting division Additive Minds will work with Siemens to help take additive manufacturing to the next level."

"As innovation cycles are getting shorter and shorter, companies need to constantly reinvent their products, redefine production and rethink business," says Jan Mrosik, CEO of the Digital Factory Division, Siemens AG. "The Additive Manufacturing Network enriches our Digital Enterprise portfolio, connecting the real with the virtual world. It offers the additive manufacturing industry - from product manufacturers, engineering companies, suppliers of automation technology to service providers - a platform for collaborative design, innovation and the development of completely new business models."

The Siemens Additive Manufacturing Network creates an open ecosystem that instantly connects highly skilled members to develop new products using the latest additive manufacturing software tools, printing technologies and materials. Parts buyers and manufacturing service providers benefit from better collaboration, quoting, sourcing and order monitoring. This makes it easier to create innovative products for additive manufacturing, replace physical inventories with digital ones and scale 3D printing production economically according to demand. This is the next step in Siemens' vision to digitally transform the global manufacturing industry and deliver novel parts faster through industrial additive manufacturing.

"Stratasys and Siemens share a common vision for the industrialization of additive manufacturing: To deliver unique benefits to our customers and help them develop better products efficiently and economically," said Scott Sevcik, VP Manufacturing Solutions at Stratasys. "Stratasys is excited to be an early partner in the Additive Manufacturing Network - the great ecosystem for easy access to additive manufacturing. We look forward to supporting the Siemens platform with our industry-leading additive manufacturing technologies and application expertise. To do this, we are connecting them with our world-class service division Stratasys Direct Manufacturing."
With the Additive Manufacturing Network, Siemens is facilitating access to the latest knowledge and technologies. This also simplifies the introduction of additive manufacturing in the industry and customers can digitalize their business processes.
"We are right on schedule with the launch of the Additive Manufacturing Network - as we promised a year ago," says Zvi Feuer, Senior Vice President of Manufacturing Engineering Software at Siemens PLM Software. "Collaborating with a dynamic ecosystem of industry leaders and start-ups is critical to building knowledge and driving innovative solutions. Our platform provides a unique way to collect, store, reuse and share expertise with other participants."
"HP is committed to the collaboration and seamless integration of designers, manufacturers and technology providers to realize the full potential of 3D printing. The Siemens Additive Manufacturing Network is an important step for the industry in this direction," said Michelle Bockman, Global Head of 3D Printing Commercial Expansion & Development, HP Inc. "Users will have access to HP Multi Jet Fusion 3D printing technology providers, experts and tools to help them successfully adopt additive manufacturing."
