Thermoplastic PEEK material
High-performance thermoplastic for FDM process
Stratasys has introduced a new high-performance PEKK-based thermoplastic for its FDM process called Antero 800NA. For many manufacturers, a PEKK-based material offers significant advantages in FDM additive manufacturing, such as lower weight, reduced inventory and improved profitability. Antero 800NA is characterized by excellent chemical resistance and low outgassing. The material also has high temperature resistance and very good performance properties.
The material is of particular interest to the aerospace industry and manufacturers of other high-performance means of transportation. Thanks to its good chemical resistance, the material can be used for components that are exposed to hydrocarbons such as fuels and lubricants as well as many types of acids. The low outgassing also makes it suitable for use in confined spaces and sensitive environments such as satellites, where materials must not outgas under vacuum. The high permissible operating temperature is designed for use under the hood or in the engine compartment.
An important advantage of additive manufacturing is that PEKK components can be produced on demand. In addition to the aerospace and automotive industries, target sectors include high-end industrial manufacturing and the oil and gas processing industry. The material will initially be offered with a layer thickness of 0.25 mm. Further layer thicknesses are planned for the next version. am
