Embedded vision platform
Camera platform for embedded vision
Stemmer Imaging offers a camera platform from Allied Vision that makes the use of embedded technology powerful and flexible.
The Alvium 1800 camera series from Allied Vision combines the unique advantages of embedded cameras and conventional industrial cameras for machine vision applications. The cameras combine the performance of the System-on-Chip (SoC) technology of the Alvium platform with modern CMOS sensors. The result is flexible image processing solutions for both classic PC-based and compact embedded systems with a good price-performance ratio. The cameras are available either with a GenICam-compliant USB 3 vision interface (Alvium 1800 U series) or with a MIPI CSI-2 interface of the Alvium 1800 C series as well as a wide range of different housings.
By using the Alvium platform for all camera models, the USB 3 Vision versions with fully enclosed housing are not only suitable for use in PC-based systems, but can also be integrated into embedded systems. A GenICam-based transport layer supports USB cameras to ensure plug-and-play compatibility with popular software libraries such as MVTec's Halcon and Stemmer Imaging's own Common Vision Blox platform for PC-based applications. This has a compact design for easy integration into small systems. In addition, the SoC technology enables a wealth of pre-processing and image optimization functions without the need for an FPGA. The SoC solution offers significantly higher computing power than FPGAs, which in combination with the high frame rates makes the cameras ideal for high-speed applications and complex image processing tasks.
High frame rates with high resolution
All camera versions are available with Sony IMX CMOS sensors with resolutions of up to 20 megapixels and offer very good image quality in addition to high frame rates and high sensitivity. This means that the optimum combination of sensor, range of functions and hardware can be found for every application. The sensors include the Sony Pregius global shutter sensors IMX265, IMX264 and IMX304 as well as the IMX183 with rolling shutter and rear exposure, which achieves very good results even in low light conditions. A MIPI-CSI-2 version is also available with the ON-Semi 5 megapixel rolling shutter sensor AR0521, which enables a frame rate of 67 frames per second.
The USB 3 Vision camera models are available in three housing variants. In addition to a robust and completely closed housing in industrial quality with various lens mounts and high-precision sensor alignment, variants with an open housing or a shock and vibration-resistant circuit board version (single board module) are also available.
