Interview with Dr. Albert Schmidt
Cameras are playing an increasingly important role in production and quality control. They relieve the burden on people and expand the possibilities of visual inspection. They are part of entire networks of components. In order to cope with the large amounts of data, the industry relies on "intelligent" cameras that not only provide data, but also deliver results. But what must the camera be able to do, what makes it intelligent? Dr. Albert Schmidt, Managing Director of Baumer's Vision Competence Center, provides answers.

Marposs will be presenting its broad product portfolio for quality assurance on two stands at this year's Control trade fair. While the versatile application possibilities of the leakage test will be presented in Hall 6, the main stand in Hall 3 will focus on hand-held measuring devices, optical measuring technology and various solutions for safe operator guidance during measurement.

Quality assurance, consisting of measurement, control and correction processes, is the most important measure for optimizing production processes in tool, model and mould making. The basis for this is, among other things, the three-dimensional digitalization of the actual states of finished and partially finished products, tools and machines.
According to preliminary calculations, Maschinenfabrik Berthold Hermle AG was able to slightly increase its consolidated turnover in 2017 to around € 402 million (previous year: € 394.0 million). The Swabian machine tool manufacturer achieved growth primarily in Germany, while foreign sales remained largely stable.

At Tube in Düsseldorf, SCOPE spoke to Stefanie Flaeper, Managing Director at Transfluid Maschinenbau, about how the future of bending technology is shaping up - particularly with regard to Industry 4.0 and flexibilization through the use of robots.
