On the first of the five days of the Hannover Messe from 1 to 5 April 2019, the SurfaceTechnology Area will be the venue for a new VDMA initiative that aims to standardize machine-to-machine communication for surface technology in order to reduce the integration effort for surface technology machines, installations and devices.

With the kick-off of the Joint Working Group, the circle of participants is expected to expand to include additional companies and organizations. The VDMA OPC Surface Technology Initiative is working on the interoperability of surface technology machines, installations and devices with each other, with peripheral systems and with the production control system. EN16985, the new European safety standard for painting systems, may also generate demand for painting technology at the VDMA joint stand.

The main theme of this year's Hannover Messe is "Integrated Industry - Industrial Intelligence". This refers to the digital networking of man and machine in the age of artificial intelligence. The focus will be on innovative supplier solutions and lightweight construction, which will be highlighted in Hall 5. There, exhibitors will present lightweight construction as high-tech and engineering at a high level with relevance for all processes and materials and there will be the Integrated Lightweight Plaza as a central hotspot for lightweight construction.

The SurfaceTechnology Area alternates every year with the SurfaceTechnology Germany trade fair in Stuttgart, which also takes place every two years. The most strongly represented user industries are mechanical and plant engineering, electrical engineering and electronics as well as the automotive and vehicle industry, followed by aerospace, the metalworking industry and the plastics industry.
