Sensors, measuring and testing technology

Sensor+Test 2019 with satisfied exhibitors

After three sweltering days, the Sensor+Test measurement technology trade fair closed its doors yesterday in Nuremberg. Despite record temperatures outside, around 7,000 trade visitors from Germany and abroad found their way into the pleasantly temperate exhibition halls. As usual, the number of exhibitors was down on the previous year at 538. The proportion of exhibitors from abroad remained unchanged at around 40 percent.

Visitors made extensive use of the opportunity to find out more about the many innovations on display at the trade fair stands covering an exhibition area of around 18,000m2. There and at the exhibitors' very well-attended lecture forums, this year's special theme of the trade fair - sensor and measurement technology for process automation - was the subject of lively discussion. Holger Bödeker, Managing Director of the organizing AMA Service, commented: "The two exhibitor forums in the exhibition halls, which are freely accessible to visitors, are increasingly becoming real crowd-pullers."

Christoph Kleye (Pewatron), Chairman of the Exhibitor Advisory Board, also confirms the overwhelming satisfaction of the exhibitors: "We had many good and very concrete discussions. Hall 5 in particular was much busier this year, which speaks for a better mix of visitor flows. The various communication channels offered to exhibitors by the trade fair in the run-up to the event deserve special praise. We made intensive use of these and benefited greatly from them."

The accompanying 20th GMA/ITG Symposium on Sensors and Measurement Systems 2019 was also very well attended, despite overlapping dates with other international conferences, as confirmed by the scientific congress management. The open congress session on "Citizen Science with Sensors - Sensor Technology for Citizen Science", which was offered for the first time and free of charge for all trade fair visitors, was also well received.

Sensor+Test 2020: New exhibition hall, new international congress

Next year, Sensor+Test will take place from June 23 to 25, 2020 in Halls 1, 2 and Hall 3C. Holger Bödeker comments: "Exhibitors and visitors can already look forward to it. We expect the new, ultra-modern Hall 3C to provide an even more attractive layout of the exhibition stands for high efficiency in the interests of our trade fair visitors."

Sensor+Test 2020 - then with the special theme of "Sensors and measurement technology for condition monitoring" - will once again be accompanied by the ettc2020 - European Test and Telemetry Conference in Hall 2. The new international specialist congress SMSI 2020 - Sensor and Measurement Science International will take place at the same time for the first time. The outstanding importance of measurement technology and sensor technology as key technologies for Industry 4.0 will continue to be the focus.
