Reach into the box

New picking sensors

Today, the robot-guided "reach into the box" significantly increases the degree of automation in industrial production and allows maximum flexibility. One of the largest automotive suppliers relies on Power Pick 3D from Isra to sort components for the chassis.

In the production process, small, round, cylindrical metal pins - some of which are reflective, some dark black, depending on the type - are to be separated by a robot system. The optical sensor with its quad-camera equipment ensures complete detection of the container, even with large container volumes. For this multi-stereo process, four integrated cameras capture the components to be gripped in the container. Power Pick 3D automatically creates an optimized gripping sequence and calculates the corresponding robot paths. The four cameras create different perspectives based on the redundant image recordings and thus enable reliable object recognition even in the event of shadows or reflections on a component. Simple integration and easy teach-in of new parts thanks to CAD teach-in enable fast commissioning and quick changeover between different component types. Thanks to its embedded processor technology, the sensor does not require an external computer, which means that data transmission achieves maximum speed. as
