Safe pressure measurement
With the Sitrans P320/420, Siemens is presenting a pressure transmitter that enables remote Safety Integrity Level (SIL) commissioning. This saves time when commissioning devices that require functional safety.
Instead of manually operating each individual device on site in the system, users can set the transmitters to SIL operation from the control room using the Simatic Process Device Manager (PDM), for example. This generation of pressure transmitters was developed in accordance with the IEC 61508 standard for SIL 2/3. Due to an extended proof test interval (repeat test) compared to other devices, maintenance costs are reduced. The Hart 7 transmitter offers additional digitization features. The user is provided with comprehensive control and analysis options by means of data logging and event monitoring. In addition, the device's optimized step response time increases process efficiency, as the control system reacts more quickly to changing process conditions. The user-friendly functionalities of Sitrans P320/420 include a larger and improved display that shows users the status of the device at a glance.
Thanks to the four-button operation, Namur NE107 support and a quick start wizard, configuration is convenient and time-saving. With measuring ranges from 20 millibar to 700 bar, these devices offer reliable results even under extreme conditions. They are suitable for applications where safety plays a major role, such as in the chemical, pharmaceutical, oil and gas and power generation industries. pb
