Germany's largest science center is located in Heilbronn: since April 2019, experimenta has been offering around 275 exciting exhibits on four exhibition levels covering an area of around 25,000 square meters. A wide range of stations have been developed, from simple to more sophisticated, where visitors can experience science and technology with all their senses. IDS Imaging Development Systems is a partner of experimenta: cameras from nearby Obersulm are integrated into seven stations and contribute to exciting and sometimes astonishing insights.

"Visitors should be encouraged to engage interactively with topics from science and technology through unusual exhibits and an emotionally appealing design. We want to encourage them to think about everyday issues as well as questions of cutting-edge research," says Managing Director Dr. Wolfgang Hansch, explaining experimenta's approach. The Science Center wants to stand for the joy of experimentation, the love of knowledge and innovation in a special way. This is achieved through the unusual concept with three areas: Worlds of Discovery, Worlds of Experience and Worlds of Research. The Worlds of Discovery exhibition area looks at small, everyday things that often contain great things. Various IDS cameras also contribute to this.

The "Kopfsachen" floor, for example, illustrates how people perceive their environment, illustrated by an IDS camera on the "Schubsmaschine", among other things. Cameras from Obersulm can also be found in "Forscherland": In the slow-motion experiment and on a small car racetrack, children up to the age of ten can experiment and tinker. Whether in the "whirlwind experiment" or in the nature laboratory, natural phenomena take center stage on the "WeltBlick" floor with the help of state-of-the-art camera technology. On the camera side, the topic of "Researching and Writing" is presented in a particularly innovative way. In the "Greenbox" and at the three layout terminals of the "Newspaper Editorial Office", visitors intuitively become editors themselves, made possible by the latest development from the industrial camera manufacturer: the IDS NXT vegas model with app-based image processing for a flexible, individual range of functions is installed.

Thanks to the app principle, the IDS NXT product platform is as versatile as a smartphone. Various image processing tasks can therefore be carried out on a single camera. The applications are made even more diverse by the addition of artificial neural networks - this means that the IDS NXT rio & rome models can also be used to discover completely new applications in Industry 4.0. At experimenta, young and old researchers can gain a concrete insight into the latest findings from science and research with the help of camera technology from the Weinsberg Valley. A benefit for the region and far beyond in every respect. as
