Robust cube-shaped sensor

With the PQ Cube, ifm electronic is launching a pressure sensor with numerous properties suitable for industrial use. Typical applications include the control of vacuum grippers for handling tasks, the monitoring of pneumatic cylinders and general pneumatic applications.

The cube shape with an edge length of 30 millimetres has become the standard for sensors in pneumatic applications. The PQ Cube corresponds to this form factor and offers advantages during installation and operation, including simple mounting without accessories, a fully graphic display for visualization and a robust measuring cell. It is the centerpiece that can withstand adverse environmental conditions. The measuring cell with protection class IP65 withstands dust and oily compressed air. The fully graphic TFT display enables optimum visualization in the application. In addition to the current value, a color change at the switching point shows directly and clearly whether the pressure at the measuring points has reached the switching point. An additional info line can display further status information in plain text. Two additional LEDs also indicate when the switching points have been reached. The display is helpful when installing the PQ Cube; this is done using three buttons.

The display shows the parameterization in one of the nine available languages while the user uses the installation wizard. Thanks to a well thought-out mounting concept, users can manage without additional accessories in most installation situations. Cut-outs in the housing allow the sensor to be attached at the back or side with screws. It is available in various versions with pressure ranges from negative pressure to 16 bar. All devices are available with an M8 connector, variants with an M12 connector are in preparation.
