IMScompact detects the exact position with a sensor system integrated into the ball bearing carriage. The integration into the carriage ensures a high level of EMC protection. This means that IMScompact is also suitable for use in conjunction with linear motors. The wear-free, optionally incremental or absolute measuring system increases precision and dynamics, particularly in handling and general automation solutions.

IMScompact measures the position of the carriage without contact with an absolute accuracy of plus/minus 20 micrometers per meter and a repeatability of plus/minus one micrometer at speeds of up to five meters per second. For this purpose, a magnetic tape is glued and fixed along the entire length of the profile rail guide.

The steel body of the carriage shields the integrated encoder from magnetic interference fields like a Faraday cage. As a result, it reliably delivers exact values even in conjunction with linear motors. According to Rexroth, the IMScompact is particularly durable thanks to the non-contact, wear-free measuring principle and its insensitivity to dust, shocks and vibrations.

With the exception of the cable outlet on the side of the carriage, the dimensions correspond to those of the standard guides. In most cases, they can therefore be integrated into existing constructions without any design changes. Complete integration into the carriage means that no additional attachments are required. The measuring system has an incremental 1Vpp or TTL interface and an absolute SSI encoder interface. The measuring length is up to 17.8 meters with multi-part rail sections.
