New logistics center in Hesse
Endress+Hauser is further expanding its European logistics capacities. A new logistics center near Frankfurt Airport is to replace the existing one in Nieder-Olm.
The new logistics center for Endress+Hauser in Wörrstadt, Hesse, not far from Frankfurt Airport, is due to be completed in mid-2021. It will be operated by the service provider Hellmann Worldwide Logistics. The new location will replace the previous logistics center in Nieder-Olm.
Reliable logistics are a crucial link in the chain for the smooth fulfillment of customer orders, the company announced in a press release. Fast throughput times, a rapid response and on-time delivery are essential for a high level of customer satisfaction. In times of Corona, it has also become clear that flexibility is particularly important.
For this reason, the cooperation with the logistics service provider Hellmann Worldwide Logistics has been contractually extended. In addition, the aforementioned, larger logistics center in Wörrstadt is now to be built and put into operation. The new hub at the A63/B420 interchange will have 18,000 m² of logistics space and will be able to handle eight times the volume of the old facility.
The center in Nieder-Olm, which is certified for air freight security, already handles the delivery of 16 truck shuttles from all Endress+Hauser production sites in Europe. Logistics partner Hellmann also takes care of supplies for the company's overseas production sites, including packing orders for air freight and loading shipping containers. In future, the new logistics center in Wörrstadt will also bundle incoming deliveries from overseas and distribute them to the production plants via the existing shuttle connections. In addition, the space at the new location will mainly be used for cross-docking products, i.e. for goods that are normally no longer stored but are handled immediately.
