Intelligent sensors for higher productivity

At EMO 2019, Balluff will be showing how innovative machine concepts can be realized with machine data. Among other things, the company will be demonstrating how plant productivity can be increased through predictive maintenance and repair planning. This is based on intelligent sensors that provide input directly from the machine.

Inductive sensors with integrated self-diagnosis, for example, such as the Dynamic Sensor Control sensors, issue warning and trend messages in addition to switching and error signals. They provide real-time information about quality deviations in production. Inductive sensors with IO-Link also provide additional information such as sensor temperature data.

Sensors for process monitoring

Process sensors such as thermal flow monitors detect the flow rate and temperature of liquid media in direct contact with the media, for example in machine tools, pumps and compressors, and help to keep the temperature constant.

Balluff pressure sensors provide machine data directly from the hydraulic system. They are also suitable for process monitoring and fault detection. Measured pressure curves provide detailed information about the machine status and are suitable for condition and deviation analysis. Another area of application is hydrostatic level measurement. This makes it possible to detect slowly changing fill levels and automatically trigger logistics and procurement processes.

The Heartbeat power supply units with diagnostic functions will also be presented. Using IO-Link, they inform the user if there is an overload, if the ambient conditions have deteriorated or if they warn of a failure. In addition, changes in the current consumption allow conclusions to be drawn about the system status.

Use interchangeable tools more efficiently

For an easy introduction to automated tool management, Balluff will be showing, among other things, how Tool ID - tool coding using industrial RFID - leads to greater transparency, efficiency and quality in metal processing. With Easy Tool-ID, the company now also offers an affordable entry-level solution.

In addition to safe I/O modules, Balluff also offers optoelectronic protective devices, a wide variety of safety sensors and switches as well as safe guard locking devices and safe control devices in the safety sector.
