Embedded 3D image processing

Vision Components offers 3D laser sensors with integrated electronics. The embedded vision systems in the VCnano3D-Z series use a Zynq SoC from Xilinx, which combines a dual-core ARM processor with an FPGA to calculate the point cloud.

This frees up processor capacity for application tasks. The profile sensors offer scan rates of up to 2 kHz. They have a 1 Gbit Ethernet interface and are therefore suitable for real-time applications in robotics.

The system uses a 450 nm class 2 laser and is suitable for food applications such as volume measurement for portioning. The series includes several models for working distances from around 60 mm to over 3 m. Resolutions from 40 µm on the X-axis and 10 µm on the Z-axis as well as field of view widths of over 2,000 mm are possible. CMOS image sensors ensure high image quality with low noise.
