Efficient material flow with seamless safety
Automation places greater demands on safety concepts. Classic concepts such as muting are reaching their limits. The safety solutions from Leuze enable seamless safety, efficient material flow and high system availability.
In flexible production processes, AGVs are often loaded and unloaded by robots. The safety concepts for the AGV/robot transfer stations must then be designed for the automated movement sequences. With the safety solution from Leuze, the area of the transfer station is dynamically safeguarded. The area is monitored by two safety laser scanners. If the vehicle drives into the safeguarded area, the monitoring adapts dynamically to the vehicle position and hides the base area of the AGV from the safeguarded area.
The advantages of this solution are the continuous monitoring of access and the presence of people. The vehicle can move through the secured area for the charging cycle, while the area around the vehicle is completely secured at all times. This reliably detects the possibility of people walking alongside the vehicle. The safety solution also allows vehicle loads of different widths and the transportation of overhanging parts. The system works autonomously and can be integrated into the system's safety circuit via the two-channel safety output.
Access guarding on multi-lane transport systems
When safeguarding multi-lane transport systems, the question often arises of a safety concept that ensures smooth processes and at the same time offers seamless safety. The suitable Leuze safety solution is shown using the example of a pallet output via gravity conveyors, which is fed by a cross conveyor.
Access is safeguarded here by two vertically aligned safety laser scanners. These monitor the entire transfer area of the cross conveyor. The protective function is only opened for the lane at which a pallet is currently being discharged by switching the protective fields at precisely this point. The safety system receives the information about the lane used from the system control.
Access guarding even during pallet dispensing
The advantages of this solution are the seamless monitoring of the entire access area at all times and the simple setup. As two safety laser scanners are sufficient to safeguard the entire transfer area, the installation costs are low. Additional trigger sensors are not required. In the case of closely adjacent lanes, this solution often makes a lane-specific safety concept possible in the first place. as
