Differential pressure sensor

Andreas Mühlbauer,

Bidirectional up to 125 Pa

Amsys offers the pressure sensors of the SM9333 series in a bidirectional differential version with ±125 Pa. The special feature of these differential sensors is that they can measure both negative and positive pressure. Due to the symmetrical properties of the silicon measuring cell, this bidirectional version therefore enables measurement of both the applied negative pressure and the corresponding positive pressure.

Two signals in I²C format are available as output signals, which are proportional to the differential pressure and temperature change. To check the function of the sensor, the SOIC sensors are equipped with a status diagnosis and an error message.

During production, the low-pressure sensors are individually linearized, calibrated and temperature-compensated. This means that no additional circuitry, such as a compensation network, is required.

The housing of the low-pressure sensor is based on the standard SOIC16(w) housing (300 mil), in which the evaluation IC and the silicon measuring cell are also integrated. As OEM pressure sensors, the SM9333 are intended for installation on a printed circuit board. The sensors are suitable for automatic SMD assembly. They can be placed like an IC in the PCB design and mounted on standard PCBs using the reflow process.

With an ADC resolution of 16 bit and an accuracy of typically ±0.5% FS over the entire calibration temperature range (-25 to 85 °C), the sensor is particularly suitable for industrial applications, but can also be used in medical devices and HVAC products. In addition to the SM9333, there is also a bidirectional differential pressure sensor for the larger pressure range ±250 Pa in the form of the SM9336.
