Sensors and measurement technology with significant sales growth
The AMA Association for Sensors and Measurement conducts a quarterly survey of its 460 members on economic developments.
Following a successful result in the previous year with overall sales growth of 9%, the industry once again generated a 9% increase in sales in the first quarter of 2018. The industry reported a 5% increase in incoming orders for the first quarter compared to the previous quarter.
Sensor and measurement technology thus reflects the development of the German economy, which is currently experiencing a steady and broad-based upturn. Order books are full in many places, capacities are well utilized and employment is at record levels. Sensors are the mediators between the digital and the real world. The intelligent use of sensors enables the digitalization and automation of industry, which are currently identified as important growth drivers.
"If the industry is doing well, sensor and measurement technology is booming. The German economy is growing, as can be seen in the economic development of our industry, which increased its turnover by 9% in the first quarter," says Thomas Simmons, AMA Managing Director, assessing the latest association survey. "Only the intelligent use of sensors and measurement technology makes technical innovations possible for the industry. We therefore expect to see further continuous growth in the industry this year."
