Ultra-low power OLED microdisplays

Andreas Mühlbauer,

Ready for transfer to industry

The Fraunhofer FEP develops OLED microdisplays and sensors based on OLED-on-silicon technology and has been able to offer evaluation kits for testing and development purposes. Now the scientists at the institute have optimized the component designs and manufacturing processes for their ultra-low-power OLED microdisplays, which are particularly relevant in wearables, so that comparable conditions can be verified in industrial manufacturing environments.

Starting from this stage, there are advanced opportunities for transfer to industrial customers, for example through design and process transfer as well as licensing for customers' own products or pilot production in medium quantities for microdisplay components. At the trade fair, the scientists will be showing the range of microdisplays and sensors as well as a new test board.
