Mobile robotics: making intralogistics fit for the future

Increasingly networked production environments also pose new challenges for intralogistics: Intelligent and flexible solutions are required. The mobile transport robots from Mobile Industrial Robots are already helping companies around the world to optimize their internal material flow accordingly. Now a larger, stronger and faster model is setting new standards - the MiR500.

In globalized and volatile market environments, the factory of the future is increasingly taking shape: Processes in production and logistics are becoming increasingly interlinked, while people, machines and systems communicate with each other and collaborative robots are becoming the standard in industrial production.

However, Industry 4.0 will only work if intralogistics also plays its part. As a critical link between the individual production stages, the internal material flow must be able to rely on intelligent solutions in order to ensure comprehensive flexibility in the production of the future. This is where mobile robotics comes in: It makes it possible to automate internal flows of goods simply, cheaply and effectively.

Robotics know-how from Denmark
Mobile Industrial Robots (MiR) has become a pioneer in this field. The Odense-based company has been developing autonomous, mobile robots for material handling since 2013. Customers all over the world rely on the MiR100 and MiR200 models, whose names indicate their payload in kilograms.

MiR is now launching a new model on the market: the MiR500 is more powerful and faster than its smaller predecessors. With a load capacity of 500 kg and a larger load area, it can automatically pick up, transport and deliver pallets at speeds of up to 7.2 km/h, among other things. This means that even the transportation of heavy goods can now be automated cost-effectively.

Together with the MiR pallet lifter and associated frame, it also guarantees stable and safe handling of Euro pallets.

Proven technology, new possibilities
"With the MiR500, we continue to rely on the proven, strong technology and safety that has made us the world's leading provider of autonomous mobile robots," explains Thomas Visti, CEO of Mobile Industrial Robots.

Using powerful sensor technology and safety algorithms, the MiR500 maneuvers confidently in dynamic environments. It meets all the safety standards required for TÜV certification - for example ISO/EN 13489.

The robot independently avoids obstacles and people and always finds the fastest route to its destination. It works safely in the immediate vicinity of employees and can therefore provide them with the best possible support in their work.

Advantages at a glance:

  • Optimization of internal transport of heavy goods
  • Relief for employees
  • Safe maneuvering in dynamic environments
  • Can be used without converting the building structure
  • Flexible thanks to add-on modules
  • Simple programming and intuitive operation

Streamline pallet transportation
Extremely robust and hard-wearing, the MiR500 is ideal for use in industrial environments. It relieves employees of heavy physical tasks and, thanks to its speed, also helps to streamline pallet transportation. As the MiR robots can be used around the clock, they also enable companies to make optimum use of their production capacities.

They also impress with their high level of flexibility and user-friendliness. The MiR500 can also be put into operation quickly and programmed without prior knowledge. Its various add-on modules such as pallet lifter, conveyor belt and robot arm are easy to install. The model can therefore be easily used for a wide variety of transportation purposes.

The next level of intralogistics
While its technology is similar to that of the MiR100 and MiR200 models, its size and load capacity open up completely new application possibilities. With the MiR500, MiR is now taking intralogistics to the next level - an important step towards Logistics 4.0. This benefits both companies and employees, who can now make greater use of their skills where they are actually needed.
