Opportunities
The new year 2020 has begun with economic uncertainty. Brexit and the coronavirus dominated the headlines in the first few weeks and a long, dirty election campaign lies ahead in the USA following the failed impeachment of President Trump. What should we do?
We have done something at handling. We have overhauled our magazine and invested resources in an improved structure and a fresher layout. Because we believe that uncertainty doesn't have to mean doom and gloom, but can also be an opportunity. Browse through the current issue and let us know what you liked, what you didn't and what you would like to read more about.
The automotive industry, which is so hugely important for the German economy, is going through difficult times, but in the end, investments have to be made here too; new plants have to be built for new vehicle models; the increasing shortage of workers has to be compensated for by intelligent technology. And the other sectors, many of which are not doing so badly, must also face up to technological change in production if they are not to fall behind the international competition.
As handling, we want to have our say here. In the magazine, online, in our newsletter, but also at our congress, which will take place again in October and this time will focus on the topics of cobots and variants. We would very much welcome presentations from you.
And of course with our handling award. We are organizing it for the seventh time this year. It kicks off on March 1. For me, as a journalist covering this industry, it's always a great opportunity to see all the new and intelligent ideas that come onto the market within a year.
At the end of 2020, we will know for sure what the year has brought economically. Let's get to work!
Yours
Daniel Schilling
