A first look ...
... to this year's Motek, dear readers, in our August issue. What can we expect to see in Stuttgart at the beginning of October?
In her exclusive statement, trade fair director Bettina Schall states: "The age of practical ergonomics has begun". So automation projects are no longer just about "higher, faster, further", but above all about "better". I like that. Production and everyone involved in it are already under a lot of pressure, and now more attention is being paid to people again: how can they be optimally relieved by assistance systems, HRC and customizable workstations? How can they work efficiently and productively for as long as possible? Modern production planning requires a holistic view of production lines for industry and logistics and the optimal design of individual stations for maximum flexibility, modularity, versatility and ergonomics. The necessary technologies and systems are available, and using them sensibly and practically would be intelligent - in the conventional sense.
It is also sensible to take a close look at the issue of packaging. Germany is the European packaging waste champion, was a recent headline. The images of the mountains of plastic waste in our waters should alarm us all. Of course, packaging is indispensable, in industrial production, in logistics and also in the private consumer sector. But the whether and the how must certainly be reconsidered in many areas. The packaging industry is under pressure to change, confirms Ralf Fehrenbacher, Sales Manager at Karl Knauer, who opens the packaging technology section for us from page 34.
I hope you find this issue of handling interesting and inspiring!
