Deguma equips rolling mill operators for emergencies
Rescue blanket, knife, crowbar: all this is part of the inventory of the new emergency box from Deguma. With these tools, rolling mill operators are prepared for an emergency and can react quickly and correctly.
Rolling mills are among the more dangerous machines in elastomer processing. In the event of serious injuries caused by crushing or burns due to the high temperatures prevailing in the manufacturing process, quick action is required - and professional equipment. Deguma has put this together in its new emergency box. The robust aluminum case on four wheels is located in the immediate vicinity of the rolling mills and is sealed and cannot be locked so that staff can quickly access the contents in an emergency.
The core product of the emergency box is a rescue blanket specially tailored to industry requirements, which can withstand high temperatures over a long period of time and insulates the body against them. The box also contains sharp knives. They are mainly used to cut the trapped limbs/clothing out of the material in which they are trapped. The safety equipment also includes crowbars, sterile bags and heat-resistant leather gloves for the rescue personnel. A high-quality, powerful flashlight is included in the box to illuminate the scene of the accident.
Advice, retrofitting, training and emergency box
The box has an inventory list that shows the exact contents and makes it possible to buy additional supplies if necessary. With the exception of the bags, however, the products included are designed for multiple use in the interests of sustainability. The standard contents of the emergency box can also be expanded to meet individual customer requirements.
"After successful safety advice and, if necessary, retrofitting, our customers receive safety training. This draws attention to the danger points of the rolling mills and creates awareness among staff of the correct behavior in emergency situations. After the training courses, customers usually request the emergency box for their company," explains Sebastian Bein, Sales Manager at Deguma. After all, the right equipment is crucial in an emergency. The emergency box is therefore a useful addition to the first-aid kit, especially for hazardous situations at the rolling mill.
