Embedded vision product range with sensor modules
The Framos Group is launching its own embedded vision product range to facilitate the development of imaging solutions.
The product range includes sensor modules as well as adapters for modules and processors for fast and easy development from concept to finished design. It offers vision engineers and developers a modular approach to embedded vision and ready-to-use compositions to accelerate time-to-market and optimize resources.
The product range functions as a mix & match modular system and enables the accelerated and individual development of products with embedded vision.
André Brela, Product Manager at Framos, explains the concept: "Vision engineers and developers can quickly create a proof of concept with our product range and then systematically develop it further by porting the IP, schematics and board design to their end product. All products are based on a very flexible platform that makes it easy to evaluate the sensor and its performance on different processor boards. At the same time, the connectors and logic components can be developed on it to assemble all vision components. A major advantage is that developers can work with the product range from the initial idea through to mass production, thus saving resources and shortening development cycles."
Sensor modules
The sensor modules in the FSM series are based on Sony and ON-Semi sensors, which are fitted on a PCB with a standardized connector and corresponding circuits. The sensor can therefore be put into operation very quickly. The modules can be ordered including lens holder and suitable lens. Their dimensions are 26.5 mm x 26.5 mm.
Sensor module adapter
Regardless of which data interface the sensor provides, the FSA adapters translate these to a common signal interface via a standardized connector. The adapters are designed to work with both Framos and sensor modules from other suppliers.
Processing adapter
The processing adapters of the FPA series form the link between imaging and image processing. The FPA adapters allow all available sensor modules to work with a variety of developer kits, such as the Nvidia Jetson TX2, the Qualcomm DragonBoard and many more.
