The new DeMeter software from Desoutter processes data from assembly processes and bundles it into meaningful information and analyses.
With the new DeMeter software from Desoutter, users can collect assembly data. "DeMeter provides a comprehensive overview in real time so that the right decisions can be made quickly," explains Product Manager André Pöppe. "Our customers can use it to better control their assembly processes and employees on the line have better orientation."
DeMeter can be used to collect data that is generated in many companies but has not yet been used in a targeted manner to improve processes. "Some data is collected by systems and sensors, but is practically not bundled and evaluated in order to strategically optimize processes." This is because users can react quickly and make the right decisions on the basis of sound, clear information.
Greater efficiency and flexibility in assembly
The new software increases efficiency and flexibility in assembly, says Pöppe. "Users can save time, reduce costs and avoid downtime on the line."
DeMeter organizes the data acquisition, processes the data and provides information and evaluations. For example, data is collected during the screwing process, good parts are automatically counted on the line and downtimes are recorded. On the dashboard, the operations or assembly manager can display key performance indicators on their PC or mobile device, such as the availability of the respective station or tool or the quality produced. "Using this data, shift supervisors or other managers can quickly understand complex issues," says Pöppe. "They can control production better and identify potential for improvement."
Report problems quickly
Another feature of the DeMeter software is called "Operator Call". Using this function, workers on the line can report problems or errors that they cannot solve themselves to their supervisors. The content is freely configurable and can relate to assembly technology, quality, material flow or other topics.
In the event of problems on the line, the software ensures a faster response, which reduces downtimes and increases productivity. "In addition, the employees' sense of self-efficacy increases," emphasizes André Pöppe. "They have the impression that they are important because they can influence the processes. And that they contribute to the success of the company. And these impressions are true!"
Desoutter supplies DeMeter as a hardware and software system. Individual adjustments to the programming are not necessary. The use of the system goes hand in hand with the benefits of the software support service: "Our experts are available to users by phone and online around the clock. There are also numerous articles and explanatory videos in our service portal," says Pöppe. On request, users receive regular detailed reports based on the data collected by the system. "If we notice something during the analysis, we naturally point out the sticking points to our customers. This gives them the certainty that they are not overlooking anything themselves and are actually exploiting the optimization potential," emphasizes André Pöppe.
