AI interprets complex image content
IDS presents a 2D industrial camera that interprets complex image content "on the edge" using an artificial neural network (ANN).
Integrated data processing also provides advantages in 3D cameras. The programmable camera models IDS NXT rio and rome enable functions that classic GigE Vision cameras cannot offer thanks to "Smart GenICam" and AI-supported image processing. "Smart GenICam" means that camera functions programmed by the user can be queried and executed in a GenICam-compliant manner.
For models with artificial intelligence, inference times of just a few milliseconds are possible thanks to FPGA-based AI acceleration. Thanks to the reprogrammability of the KNN accelerator, the embedded systems also offer future-proofing, low recurring costs and short time-to-market.
