TAITRA
Robotics from Taiwan
The Taiwan External Trade Development Council (Taitra) was founded in 1970 to help Taiwanese companies increase their global reach. Over the past 40 years, the organization has played a key role in the development of Taiwan's economy. The organization is sponsored by the government and industry associations. Taitra showcased collaborative robots (cobots), Industrial Internet of Things and Robot Operating Systems at Hannover Messe, among others.
"Our strong presence at Hannover Messe shows the great influence of Taiwanese companies on manufacturing worldwide," said Joe Chou, Director of the Taiwan Trade Center. "Taiwan has the world's largest machine tool cluster, the so-called "Golden Valley". Furthermore, our companies have strong IC design capability and a lot of know-how in integrating technologies such as robots, 3D imaging and Internet of Things, as well as robot operation and embedded systems. This has made Taiwan an internationally sought-after partner for applications along the entire supply chain of intelligent machines."
Collaborative robots (cobots)
Techman Robot, for example, a provider of collaborative robots and image processing technologies, has introduced the TM5, a collaborative robot with integrated visual recognition. The robot's hands, eyes and brain are integrated into one system - this significantly improves the user-friendliness of industrial robots and considerably reduces costs and operating time.
With the integrated vision system, the TM5 can see and work like a human. Users can also teach the robot using the manual guidance function. This means that anyone, even without robot programming experience, can implement a visual pick-and-place task within a few minutes. The robot meets the safety requirements for human-robot collaboration in accordance with ISO 10218, meaning that no safety fences are required when working with machine operators. am
