Simple and flexible gripper for cobots

The flexible Schunk EGH co-act gripper promises an easy entry into the world of cobots. With a variably adjustable total stroke of 80 mm, the parallel gripper covers a wide range of workpieces.

The finger position can be individually defined for each gripping process via IO-Link and the gripper status can be evaluated. Parallel kinematics ensure consistent gripping forces over the entire stroke, and no Z-compensation is required during programming - an advantage over grippers with scissor kinematics. The current status of the gripper can be signaled via an integrated LED light strip, enabling smooth interaction between humans and robots.

Starter package makes it easy to get started

The plug&work-capable module is available as a starter package completely pre-assembled with a suitable interface and URCaps plug-in for the Universal Robots cobots. Commissioning and programming can be completed intuitively within thirty minutes. With the help of flexible fingers and interchangeable inserts, gripping different workpieces and geometries in particular can be implemented quickly

The EGH co-act gripper is particularly suitable for use in cells with protective fencing or for applications in which the workspaces of humans and robots do not directly overlap. Typical areas of application are handling and pick & place tasks in clean and slightly dirty environments, for example in the automotive and electrical industries as well as in machining operations.

The gripper is standardized in size 80 and, with a dead weight of around 1 kg, can handle parts weighing up to 0.5 kg in a force-locking manner and up to 3 kg in a form-fit manner. For collaboration types in which humans and robots work together directly, such as sequential collaboration, cooperation or reactive collaboration, Schunk recommends the certified Co-act EGP-C small parts gripper or the more powerful Co-act EGL-C large stroke gripper.
