Sensor network digitizes Kanban process

Steute's Wireless division has developed nexy, a wireless network solution that can be used to transmit sensor data to higher-level IT systems, among other things.

As an application example, the company will be exhibiting an automatic material retrieval system, or AMS for short, for KLT containers at Motek.

The system recognizes containers at the various positions. If a defined minimum stock level is reached, replenishment is ordered automatically. Fill level views can be visualized on any web-based end device. If a container or carton is removed from the shelf, a wireless position sensor sends a signal to the ERP or warehouse management system, for example. Software can be used to configure, automate and visualize the Kanban process.
