Plug-and-play solution for robot integration
Traversing unit extends the action radius of UR robots
The new "Dahl Linear Move" traversing unit from Rollon and Dahl Automation makes the lightweight, flexible robots from Universal Robots mobile, thereby increasing their reach. The complete package consists of a Rollon linear axis, a B&R servo drive and software for simple UR integration and is ready for operation within a short time.
With "Dahl Linear Move", Rollon and Dahl Automation have created a traversing unit that sets the cobots from Danish manufacturer Universal Robots in motion and significantly increases their working area. The cobot moves on a linear system and can therefore take on tasks at several locations. The result: more efficient capacity utilization, more flexible processes and lower costs.
The plug-and-play solution is adapted to UR robots and includes a Rollon linear axis, a B&R servo amplifier and software for simple UR integration. No special programming knowledge is required: the linear system can be easily set up and operated via the intuitive UR interface. Users can also make changes to the production layout themselves at any time.
Rollon gets automation moving
Rollon linear units from the Robot series from the Plus System (Actuator Line) or the open R-Smart axes from the same product family are used. According to the company, the linear axes are characterized by high system rigidity, load capacity, torque control, travel speed and positioning accuracy. They have a robust structure made from an extruded, anodized aluminium profile with a square cross-section. The drive force is transmitted by a steel-reinforced polyurethane toothed belt. The cobot moves on two parallel profile rail guides with a total of four carriages, which support all loads and torques that occur. The series is also characterized by low-maintenance operation, low noise levels and a long service life.
Available from spring 2019
The new traversing unit was presented to the international trade public for the first time in fall 2018 and is expected to be available worldwide as a UR+ product from spring 2019 via the online showroom "Universal Robots+". The system is compatible with all UR models of the e-Series and CB3 generation from version 3.7 / CB 3.1 controller and is suitable for wall mounting, floor mounting and ceiling installation.
