Linear axis systems

Mara Hofacker,

Extended range for cobots

At FachPack 2019, the European trade fair for packaging, processes and technology (September 24 to 26, Nuremberg), SKF Motion Technologies will be showcasing its range of linear axes, ball screws and actuators in Hall 3 at Stand 621. The highlight of this year's trade fair appearance will be the Liftkit and Slidekit linear axes, which allow users to greatly extend the reach of their cobots.

Cobots, i.e. industrial robots that work together with their human colleagues, can significantly increase productivity in industrial environments with repetitive tasks. However, their radius of action is usually limited by their reach or the length of their arm For many years, SKF Motion Technologies has been working on customer-specific solutions for the automation of cobots and the associated Industry 4.0. The result is a portfolio of high-quality, combinable actuators and lifting systems that make entire assembly halls flexible and mobile. At Fachpack, the company will be presenting two of these individual linear axis systems, which can be used to expand the working ranges of cobots sevenfold, for example for pick-and-place applications.

The slide kit is a linear axis that moves the robot by up to 1,800 millimetres. The lift kit raises the base of the cobot to a height of up to 900 millimeters. Larger lifts can also be realized in special cases. Liftkit and Slidekit are plug-and-play solutions including all the necessary mechanical and electrical interfaces to the robot. They enable the user to put the system into operation after a short setup time.

The products from SKF Linear Technology not only take the cobot to a new level, they also make packaging systems more efficient and economical. The actuators and telescopic columns are used in packaging, filling and labeling machines, for example, where they reduce set-up times so that different packaging can be produced in quick succession on the same machine. They also increase equipment efficiency and reduce the risk of incorrect machine settings. The telescopic columns are the perfect choice for automatic vertical resetting for different processing heights and retain their rigidity even with high dynamics and strong vibrations.
