Inexpensive delta robot kit
Igus offers its low-cost automation products with the aim of automating simple tasks quickly, easily and cost-effectively. The company has now developed a new Delta robot, which will be presented at Automatica.
The robot is based on three maintenance-free Drylin ZLW toothed belt axes, lubricant-free Igubal coupling rods and matching adapter plates. NEMA stepper motors and encoders ensure fast handling of up to 1 kg with a precision of ±0.5 mm. The complete system has an installation space of up to 420 mm in diameter and can carry up to 5 kg at lower speeds.
The lightweight design made of aluminum and plastic makes the robot extremely cost-effective with a price of less than 5,000 euros and ensures high speeds with a pick rate of at least 60 per minute. "The affordable Delta robot enables our customers to achieve costs of around 10,000 to 15,000 euros with their own control box and integration. These costs are amortized after just a few months, at most six months," says Stefan Niermann, Head of the Drylin Linear and Drive Technology division at Igus.
Available as a modular or complete system
Depending on customer requirements, the new Delta robot can be delivered within 24 hours as a pre-assembled kit including assembly instructions in a lightweight 18 kg box or directly ready for installation in a transport frame. Customers have the option of using their own software and control system or the intuitive and easy-to-operate Dryve D1 control system.
The robot is particularly suitable for simple assembly tasks, pick and place tasks and applications in testing technology. In addition to the Delta robot, igus offers other low-cost robotics systems in its Robolink product range. Here, the user has the option of individually assembling robot arms with up to five axes from a modular system consisting of different joints with various plastic gears, motors and connecting elements.
