Relief for employees
Exoskeleton for logistics and industry
Ottobock Bionic Exoskeletons has developed the BackX to make workplaces healthier and more productive.
The exoskeleton is aimed specifically at employees in logistics who have to move loads manually and need to be flexible at the same time. It reduces the strain on the lower back when lifting objects by an average of 60 percent. At the same time, it allows a high degree of freedom of movement, for example to operate an industrial truck. The BackX is in use at several DB Schenker logistics sites, for example.
More than 200 studies confirm the positive effect of such exoskeletons in the world of work. Ottobock has developed the so-called "Bionic Analytics" process in order to be able to prove the concrete improvement brought about by exoskeletons. With the help of three measuring sensors, employees' work processes are precisely analyzed both with and without exoskeletons - for up to eight hours a day over several weeks. The anonymously collected data is then evaluated using AI.
