New production and assembly hall
Winkel expands production capacities
Winkel has built a new production and assembly hall. With this expansion, the linear and handling technology specialist is also excellently positioned for large orders - for example, for equipping a new logistics center in Berlin with seven fast pick stations.
The new building in Plant 3 has an area of 4,500 square meters and meets the latest technical standards. The hall is divided into two areas: Production takes place in one half, while in the other, employees assemble larger systems and more complex systems such as the Fast Pick Station, a system for palletizing, depalletizing and order picking. The company has been implementing innovative solutions in linear and handling technology for more than 30 years and is established worldwide as a technology leader and partner to renowned system integrators.
"We have expanded our production capacities to make processes even more efficient," explains Managing Director Christian Winkel. "For example, with a new high-performance band saw with mitre cut and fully automatic push-off device." In addition, there is a state-of-the-art moving column milling machine with a processing length of 13 meters and a bed milling machine with six meters. Another special feature is the compressor system. It regulates the amount of air according to demand and only produces as much compressed air as is currently required. The investment volume for the entire project is around eight million euros. "By expanding our machinery, we can manufacture our tried-and-tested linear and handling components even more efficiently and also respond flexibly to large orders," explains Winkel.
It also houses a new steel warehouse with a capacity of up to 1,500 tons. Production in the new hall is already running at full speed - already in two-shift operation. This is because the profile and roll trade is on the upswing and has recently recorded growth of around 20 percent. The expansion of its capacities has also paid off for Winkel: thanks to the new hall, the company is currently able to handle an order for seven fast pick stations for a large logistics center in Berlin. The first components will be delivered in May.
And the next investment is already planned: A welding hall with state-of-the-art extraction technology is to be built at Winkel's Plant 1 in the middle of the year. "With these expansion measures, we are also excellently positioned for future large orders," says Christian Winkel. as
