The new soft gripping tool Pisoftgrip from Piab has been specially developed for the food industry. The vacuum-based soft gripper is suitable for gripping delicate and lightweight objects with irregular shapes or unusual surfaces.
It is also ideal for bin picking small objects such as toys, adds the manufacturer. The Softgrip has three gripper fingers and a vacuum suction cup. These are manufactured in one piece, resulting in a simple yet robust product. The vacuum operation allows the holding force to be easily adjusted and controlled using the vacuum level applied. In combination with Piab's end-of-arm vacuum tool Picobot, the gripper offers a flexible "plug & play" extension for collaborative robots. Due to an integrated compressed air/energy saving function, hardly any energy is required for gripping and releasing. The soft gripper is already UR-certified for such use. as
