Handling systems

For higher force ranges

Afag has introduced two new handling systems: For the higher force ranges, the EPS giga YZ and the EPS tera YZ now complement the portfolio of YZ standard systems. While the EPS giga YZ can apply press-in forces of 255 newtons, the larger EPS tera YZ can apply 1,024 newtons.

This also provides the user with sufficient power for press-fitting tasks. The new boom systems are suitable for the rapid movement of high payloads. The EPS giga YZ moves up to 15 kilograms and the EPS tera YZ up to 20 kilograms. The high payload does not affect the repeat accuracy of plus/minus 0.02 millimetres, emphasizes the manufacturer. A standard weight compensation is available for Z-strokes up to 500 millimetres, which ensures even shorter cycle times.

In addition to the speed, Afag points to the precision, which is enhanced by the rigidity and optimum slide contour of the individual axes. The handling systems are compact: with a width of just 180 millimetres, the energy chain, the optional external position measuring system and the weight compensation are all taken into account. With a Z-stroke of 500 millimetres including the energy chain, the EPS tera YZ is one of the lowest handling systems in this class. Like all other Afag handling systems, the two new products include complete system wiring and parameterization from the console to the gripper jaws and are therefore ready for immediate use. pb
