Handling glass fiber rolls

Andreas Mühlbauer,

Pneumatic balancer with bellows gripper

A component manufacturer was looking for an individual solution to handle glass fiber rolls ergonomically and effectively. The solution from Best Handling Technology consists of a mobile column-mounted knuckle boom crane that serves as a carrier system, a pneumatic cable balancer and a pneumatic bellows gripper.

The bellows gripper serves as a load handling device and picks up the glass fiber rolls. A pneumatic cushion is inserted and inflated. The bellows gripper can compensate for differences in the inside diameter of the glass fiber rolls of up to 50 mm. Once the bellows gripper has been inflated, the pneumatic cable balancer with two-load control automatically switches to full balancer mode. After reaching the storage position, the cushion is released and the roller is free. The support system for the balancer is mounted on a mobile base plate so that work can be carried out in different locations.
