Gimatic sold to Barnes for 370 million euros
The US-based Barnes Group, a provider of products and solutions for industry and aviation, has acquired 100% of the Italian automation specialist Gimatic.
The total value of the transaction is 370 million euros. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2018. Gimatic will operate as a new strategic business unit within the industrial segment of Barnes Group.
Founded in 1857, the Connecticut-based Barnes Group manufactures high-tech products and solutions for the industrial and aerospace sectors, serving the transportation, communications and manufacturing industries. Barnes acquires 100 percent of the mechatronics specialist Gimatic.
Founded in 1985 and based in Roncadelle (Brescia) in northern Italy, Gimatic develops and manufactures pneumatic and mechatronic components and system solutions for end customers and suppliers. The grippers, linear technology and sensors are used in the automotive, plastics, electronics, food, pharmaceutical and medical technology industries. The company has a sales network in Europe, North America and Asia. as
