Vacuum gripper cobot
Flexible cobot for small businesses
With the Kenos KCS gripper from Piab, it is possible to create a collaborative robot that can handle practically anything, anywhere and at any time. According to the manufacturer, this makes it the ideal tool for collaboration, especially for small companies.
Originally developed together with a leading cobot manufacturer as a customized automation tool for a customer, the vacuum gripper cobot proved so successful that Piab decided to offer it on a larger scale.
The Kenos KCS gripper, which combines proprietary air-powered coax technology for vacuum injection with an easily replaceable engineered foam that conforms to any surface or shape, can be used to safely grip, lift and handle any object. Standard interface adapters (ISO) allow the complete unit to be attached to any type of robot on the market. With a body made of lightweight 3D-printed material, it can be easily moved to perform various tasks in different parts of a production site, warehouse or other environment.
"The KCS is the perfect all-rounder for small businesses. Its modular plug-and-play design means it can be adapted for universal use in a company," says Josef Karbassi, Vice President of Piab's Automation Division.
An intelligently designed quick-change system allows the same unit to be fitted with a special gripper for plastic bags. With a rotating mechanism for secure locking, the KCS can be configured and deployed for new tasks in seconds, improving the productivity of operations and reducing system downtime.
"We have also ensured that the KCS gripper is easy to clean and maintain, with all parts and areas easily accessible. Thanks to rounded edges and an efficient silencer, it is safe and user-friendly, ensuring successful and harmonious cooperation between humans and robots," adds Josef Karbassi. as
