Loading system
Automatic loading of machine tools
A cost-effective system also enables small and medium-sized companies to switch to automated loading of machine tools.
The Hoffmann Group, supplier of quality tools, also supports the machining industry in the automation of its machining processes. As an entry-level model for the automated loading of machine tools, the company is presenting the new Basic 12-1450 guarantee loading system with Nachi robot. This smart solution was developed in cooperation with the Japanese technology group Nachi-Fujikoshi. It is designed for handling raw parts and can move handling weights of up to 10 kilograms. The system is also compatible with older machine tools, enabling small and medium-sized companies to get started with automation at an affordable entry-level price.
Powerful robot
The loading system consists of a powerful Nachi-MZ12-1450 robot on a Garant platform, which houses the Garant human-machine interface (HMI). The HMI, which was specially developed for this system, runs on a robust industrial PC and offers a structured, intuitive user interface. This makes programming and operation particularly easy. If a component has already been taught in and saved in the memory function, set-up is particularly fast. The gripper can also be changed quickly using a Schunk quick-change system with pressure maintenance valve. Depending on the component size, the loading system can handle up to 150 individual parts in one run and can be loaded with a maximum of 300 kg. A grid plate specially designed according to customer requirements holds the parts in position.
Safe opening and closing
Connecting the system to the machine tool is also extremely simple. No automation interface or intervention in the machine control system is required. The new Garant-Auto-Door simply needs to be installed for safe opening and closing of the machine door. This safety-oriented Siemens SI-Door-based door opening system locks the door securely once the loading process is complete. The system then starts the machining process via an electromagnetic switch.
To ensure safe operation, a powerful area scanner also monitors a radius of 1.6 to 4 m around the machine. An enclosure is therefore unnecessary and operation is possible in the tightest of spaces. The reliable safety concept of the system is confirmed by certification for CE conformity. The new Garant Basic 12-1450 loading system is now available to order from the Hoffmann Group. Garant-Auto-Door, all standard Schunk gripper packages and individually configured grid plates and gripper fingers are available as accessories.
