Quick-change system

50 kilos changed quickly

The pneumatically controlled SWS-046 robot quick-change system from Schunk enables different gripping systems and tools to be changed quickly and reliably at the front end.

With its four mounting areas for optional modules, it offers a wide range of options for supplying the connected effector pneumatically, hydraulically or electrically. High-power modules, self-sealing fluid modules and servo modules are available for this purpose.

The large number of modules for the electrical connection of actuators and sensors is also unique in its scope. Schunk offers modules for Profibus, Profinet, CAN, RS232 and Ethernet TCP/IP, for example, which can be used to supply signals to mechatronic grippers or force/torque sensors. The number of electrical feed-throughs can be modularly adapted to the respective application.

Self-locking latch and integrated piston stroke monitoring

The screw-on pattern of the SWS-046 corresponds to ISO 9409-1-100-6-M8 on the robot side. Schunk also offers an optional centering collar plate with ISO flange pattern, with which the module can be used on most robots without an additional adapter plate. The patented "no-touch locking system" enables reliable tool changes even when the head and adapter are up to 2.5 millimetres apart.

In the event of an emergency stop or sudden power failure, the locking system with its patented self-locking mechanism ensures a process-stable connection between the quick-change head and adapter. The locking status of the module can be queried at any time via a piston stroke query, which is also integrated as standard. The maximum permissible torque loads are 678 Newton meters (Mx, My) or 882 Newton meters (Mz). as
