Preventing the migration of plasticizers
Medical products such as blood bags or tubes are often made from soft PVC. The plastic sometimes contains phthalate plasticizers, which are suspected of being harmful to health. As the substances are not chemically bonded to the polymer, they can escape into the blood bags and come into contact with human cells. A new process is intended to prevent the harmful substances from migrating into the environment.
