EMO 2021

Andreas Mühlbauer,

Automation in the tool room

At EMO 2021 in Milan, the Haimer Group will be demonstrating how modern tool management works: with high-quality, process-reliable components, end-to-end digitalization through to fully automated tool presetting and secure transmission of digital tool data to the machine.

Haimer now also offers all steep taper chucks with face contact, which offer greater stability thanks to additional support on the flange face. The Haimer product range extends from various tool holders, shrinking and balancing technology, tool presetters to carbide tools and measuring probes.

The company bundles these components with functional, ergonomic workstation design in tool room solutions based on them. The DAC (Data Analyzer and Controller) tool management system developed by Haimer enables the continuous exchange of tool data between the individual tool room stations and the company network.

A key role is played here by the identification of Haimer tool holders either by means of integrated RFID data chips or via QR or Data Matrix codes, which can be read and evaluated by various systems using a scanner. This allows the entire tool to be clearly identified. The user controls the entire process simply by clicking and confirming or accepting values. As no manual input is required, there is no risk of incorrect input and therefore no risk of collisions.

Milling cutters and tool holders

Haimer will be presenting numerous product innovations and improvements to this overarching concept, which are integrated into an automated tool management system. They range from new carbide milling cutters and tool chucks to a high-end presetting device that combines shrinking and measuring technology.

New, extra slim shrink fit chucks and mini shrinks with SK40 and SK50 have been added to the Haimer tool holders. The tool holders are finely balanced and have a concentricity of G2.5 at 25,000 rpm.

Haimer now also offers all steep taper chucks with flat contact, which offer greater stability thanks to additional support on the flange face. Shrink-fit mounts and Power Collet or High Precision Collet Chucks with face contact for the BT30, BT40 and BT50 interfaces are already available from stock.

Equipped for digital data transfer

All shrinking, balancing and tool presetting devices are now available in i4.0 versions. This also applies to the new machines in the range, such as the Power Clamp Nano NG i4.0. The horizontal shrink-fit device is particularly suitable for small tool holders in high-frequency spindles, shrink-fit collets and shrink-fit chucks up to SK40/HSK-A63.

Gentle and clean, contour-independent cooling of all tool holders by air - without dirt and water residue - is promised by the new high-performance Power Clamp Air i4.0 shrink-fit device, which has integrated cooling for all types of tools (carbide and HSS).

The new Tool Dynamic TD Comfort Plus i4.0 balancing machine offers a high level of user-friendliness and convenience. In addition to network compatibility and the option of digital data transfer to the machine tool, one highlight is the 27" multi-touchscreen operation via a separate control terminal.
