Site expansion
Endress+Hauser invests in sensor technology
Innovative Sensor Technology IST, part of the Endress+Hauser Group, is on course for growth. The sensor specialist has inaugurated an extension building in Ebnet-Kappel in eastern Switzerland. The plant was expanded at a cost of almost 15 million euros and now offers twice the usable space.
Mirko Lehmann, CEO of Innovative Sensor Technology IST, Matthias Altendorf, CEO of the Endress+Hauser Group, and Klaus Endress, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Endress+Hauser, jointly welcomed customers, partners, representatives of public life and employees. "The increasing demand for innovative sensors and the associated strong growth of Innovative Sensor Technology have made the expansion necessary. We are confident that we have created the necessary space for even more innovation," said Matthias Altendorf.
Rising demand
The plant, which covers over 13,500 square meters, offers a production area of around 3,700 square meters, around 1,500 of which are clean rooms. The office areas and canteen have also been enlarged. The expansion was necessitated by increasing production requirements and the growing need for space. Since the move to Ebnat-Kappel in 2012, the number of IST employees at the site has doubled from 100 to almost 200. After one and a half years of construction, they were able to move into the building at the beginning of 2019.
IST, headquartered in Ebnat-Kappel in eastern Switzerland, is a supplier of physical, chemical and biological sensors. The product portfolio includes thin and thick-film platinum and nickel RTD temperature sensors, thermal mass flow sensors, capacitive humidity sensors, humidity modules, conductivity sensors and biosensors, and the company, which today has around 400 employees worldwide, has been part of the Endress+Hauser Group since 2005. as
