Stratasys simplifies post-processing for 3D printing

Stratasys has launched a partner program for validated post-processing solutions to help users build end-to-end AM workflows. The first partner is PostProcess Technologies, whose automated systems for FDM, PolyJet, SLA and P3 can now be purchased directly through Stratasys sales channels.

Stratasys is expanding its offering with a partner program for the post-processing of 3D-printed parts. The newly launched Post Processing Partnership Program is designed to make it easier for users to access tested post-processing solutions and integrate them better into existing production processes. The company has brought PostProcess Technologies, a specialist in automated post-printing solutions, on board as its first cooperation partner.

The post-processing of additively manufactured components is often a sticking point in the process chain. Cleaning, smoothing, curing or finishing often require manual intervention and cost time. Until now, users have had to research suitable post-processing systems themselves, procure them from various suppliers and hope that everything works together smoothly. This is exactly where the new program comes in.

In future, Stratasys will take over the pre-selection and validation of compatible third-party solutions. Customers can then purchase the post-processing technology bundled with software, materials, printers and services directly through Stratasys' sales channels. This should simplify procurement and reduce risks during implementation.

"Customers are increasingly focused on optimizing the entire additive manufacturing workflow, not just individual steps. The Post Processing Partnership Program is designed to make post processing easier to implement and better integrated into production environments," says Rich Garrity, Chief Industrial Business Officer at Stratasys. PostProcess Technologies is the right partner for this and many Stratasys customers are already using the solutions.

In concrete terms, the agreement means that Stratasys will sell the validated PostProcess systems via its global sales channels. PostProcess will continue to handle installation, service and support itself. This means that customers can order everything from a single source, while the technical support remains with the specialist.

PostProcess CEO Jeff Mize points out that manual post-processing methods are reaching their limits as part volumes and complexity increase. Automated solutions are particularly in demand in environments with high requirements for operator safety, consistency and throughput. The cooperation with Stratasys extends the market reach and makes it easier for users to set up end-to-end AM workflows.

The PostProcess portfolio supports various Stratasys technologies such as FDM, PolyJet, SLA and P3. The automated systems are designed to improve consistency, throughput and part quality in prototyping and production. This is particularly relevant for industries such as automotive, aerospace, dental and consumer goods, where post-processing represents a significant cost and time factor.

The program, including the first PostProcess offers, is already available.
