Universal Robots gives away golden cobots
Universal Robots (UR) has sold 25,000 collaborative robots by August 2018. The company is celebrating this milestone by giving away gold edition robots to selected customers.
The winner in the Western Europe region is Heemskerk Fijnmechanica, a manufacturer of precision mechanical products based in Waddinxveen, the Netherlands. On October 2, the medium-sized family business won the award with its Cobot in the Gold Edition. This special robot edition is characterized by joint caps in a gold tone
"At Heemskerk, we are very proud of this special cobot from Universal Robots. I am sure that it will help to further optimize our production line," says Lucien Heemskerk, Technical Director at the family business, and adds: "The new, golden robot will be in good company: seven UR cobots are already integrated into our production and support our employees by freeing them from monotonous tasks, especially in machine loading."
"We would not have been able to reach this historic 25,000-cobot mark without customers like Heemskerk," says a satisfied Helmut Schmid, Managing Director of Universal Robots (Germany) and General Manager Western Europe. "With the golden robot, we are not only celebrating the market success of Universal Robots over the last ten years, but above all the success of our customers in innovating and further developing their workplace with the help of collaborative robots."
Since the sale of the first cobot in December 2008, the UR robots have been used in various industries and companies - from automotive production to the electronics industry. The robotic arms perform tasks such as industrial assembly, pick-and-place and even quality inspections. Unlike traditional robotic solutions, Universal Robots' products are designed to work hand-in-hand with humans for maximum efficiency, opening up numerous opportunities for worker-robot collaboration in the workplace. The versatile robots can perform a wide range of tasks and have a quick payback period, making them an option for small businesses too. as
