Lenze at the SPS 2025

Melanie Steinbeck,

"Software is becoming the central source of innovation"

The demands placed on modern drive and automation technology are increasing rapidly. Markus Sandhöfner, Senior Vice President Sales EMEA Central and Managing Director at Lenze, explains in a brief interview how Lenze is shaping this change and which technologies will take center stage at SPS 2025.

Which technologies do you focus on?

Drive and automation technology is developing rapidly: the focus is on efficiency, flexibility and digitalization. At SPS 2025, Lenze will be showing how these challenges can be met with compact, energy-efficient drive systems, modular solutions and intelligent software. Our innovations make machines smarter, more sustainable and ready for the industry of the future.

Which industry trend is currently the most relevant for your company?

For Lenze, the focus is currently clearly on the trend towards modularization. Particularly influential here is the advancing digitalization. Software is clearly becoming the central source of innovation, while hardware is becoming increasingly standardized. It used to be the other way around. The precise synchronization of multiple axes, for example in robotics applications, and the integration of artificial intelligence for condition monitoring and pattern recognition are further focal points. Our customers increasingly expect modular, easily programmable systems with high diagnostic and maintenance capability, remote monitoring and digital integration. Digital twins for virtual commissioning are also gaining in importance. Lenze meets these requirements with an integrated approach that perfectly dovetails mechanics, electronics and software, thus enabling efficient, safe and economical processes.

And on a personal note: What is the highlight of SPS 2025 for you?

My personal highlight is the decentralized drive system i650 motec in combination with the highly efficient IE5/IE6 motor from Lenze. With this motor drive system, our customers benefit from the dynamics of a servo solution without the cost and complexity of classic servo technology. We offer an asynchronous system that replaces previous expensive servo drives and makes machine processes future-proof. The result: fewer variants, simpler integration and a significant increase in energy efficiency.

Thank you very much for the interview
