The latest addition to Formlabs' SLS ecosystem, the Fuse Blast dramatically reduces labor and overhead costs, cuts post-processing time by 80% and reliably delivers final product quality parts in as little as 15 minutes. Formlabs Fuse 1 Series printers represent nearly half of all powder bed fusion printers sold worldwide since the launch of the Fuse 1 in 2020. The addition of the Fuse Blast to the SLS ecosystem and new software updates strengthens the fleet of Fuse printers on the market used in automotive manufacturing, fabrication, engineering and more.

The Fuse Blast delivers cleaning and surface smoothing within one system and features an automated drum that cleans and removes semi-sintered or loose powder from parts without manual intervention. It also includes an in-line ionizer that prevents the re-deposition of dust to deliver tangibly clean parts every time. By reducing overhead costs and speeding up production, the Fuse Blast simplifies, improves and optimizes post-processing. It offers the following functions:

Preset programs: Preset processing routines, compatible with the use of multiple materials, save users headaches and deliver consistent results. Most parts can be cleaned with the default setting, but there is also a Nylon 12 GF Powder setting to remove the thicker powder coat (Surface Armor) and a Gentle setting for a softer finish.

Options for manually assisted and fully hand-operated cleaning: Users can choose an ergonomic, manually assisted cleaning option for larger parts, where parts are held in front of the blast nozzle with both hands, or hand-guided cleaning for easy processing of fine features that require precision and visibility.

Polishing function of the Fuse Blast: This extension goes beyond cleaning and delivers clean parts that are smooth, abrasion-resistant, semi-glossy and ready for painting.

The Fuse Blast will be ready for shipping from the beginning of 2024, while the polish extension for the Fuse Blast will be available worldwide from the first half of 2024.
