Digital twin meets product passport

Melanie Steinbeck,

Future-proof end-to-end solution at SPS 2025

At SPS, conplement and R. STAHL will present how the digital twin works end-to-end along the entire value chain: from creation and provision to productive use.

Creation without friction losses

Creation is possible without friction losses, regardless of the environment. With twinstudio, asset administration shells (AAS) and submodels can be modeled manually, including inline validation according to IDTA standards and based on reusable templates. This creates standard conformity without the need for domain experts to have in-depth knowledge of metamodels.

The Semantic Connector is available for data-driven pipelines: It generates submodels from ETL routes, data hubs or source systems without these having to implement the metamodel.

Operation with twinsphere

The second step is operation. twinsphere is the scalable AAS platform that not only generates and stores digital twins, but also integrates them into processes and makes them usable. Events via MQTT provide third-party systems with product change notifications (PCN), the push service delivers twin data in various formats and a technical data search enables precise queries for product features.

Use by users

The decisive third step unfolds its added value when used by users. In partnership with R. STAHL, conplement offers the Digital Twin Portal as a white label solution. It turns the administration shell into the interaction core for planners, operators and service. With login and member area, bulk handling, PCN notes and direct access to type and instance shells. Above all, however, the portal connects the digital twin with backend processes - from repeat orders to service orders and SAP workflows. This turns data into consistent process automation.

EU-compliant and future-proof

The regulatory requirements are also taken into account from the outset. twinsphere is based on the asset administration shell as a standardized basis and thus on the open and interoperable metamodel required by the EU Commission. In addition, twinsphere implements the system requirements stipulated in the DIN-DKE specifications for the DPP, including the DPP API and security. This means that the product passport is seamlessly embedded in the production-ready platform. This reduces integration costs and creates future-proofing for portfolios that need to scale in EU markets.

According to the company, this will create a digital twin that is universally usable, future-proof and EU-compliant. Live demos will take place at SPS 2025.
